Backdating payments

I do know that you should be backdated to the date of first claimed.

The only exception to this is if you are in reciept of dla and are transitioning to pip. But you say you never claimed disability benefits before so you should get the backpay.

You may be able to pay voluntary contributions to fill any gaps depending on whether you’re eligible.

The Whole Act you have selected contains over 200 provisions and might take some time to download.

Is this correct or am I right in thinking it should have been backdated to the point of which I made the claim.

Your record will tell you if you can pay voluntary contributions to fill gaps and how much it will cost you.

You may also be eligible for National Insurance credits if you claim benefits because you can’t work, are unemployed or caring for someone full time.
